August 4-5, 2001 This weekend I am-- at home.
I was
visiting one of my brothers
when I went to Greensboro. |
Lord, I was born a traveling man.Question of the day: How many miles has Tim Perkins put on his company Jeep? Answer: Over twenty-five THOUSAND. Yup, that's right. I got my vehicle at the beginning of February, and the odometer read "10". Now, in September, it reads somewhere in the vicinity of 25,350. In the past seven months I have taken said Jeep from Memphis to Miami to Greensboro, North Carolina, and anywhere in between...and five weeks out of those seven months it was parked at the airport. That's a lot of driving (if you couldn't firgure that out yourself). Now, going into this job I knew I was going to be traveling, and I knew the vast majority of it would be by car. But twenty-five thousand miles? I had no idea it would be that much. It's a good thing I thoroughly enjoy it, 'cause if I didn't, I'd be one miserable character (or I'd have quit by now). But now and then it can get tedious, especially if I have to do a whole lot of driving in a short time period. Generally I schedule work (or more usually, work is scheduled for me) where everything is in the same area, but sometimes it just doesn't work out so well, and I have to drive, drive, drive. For example, back in July, I went from Atlanta to Myrtle Beach to Savannah....in a DAY. That, thankfully, is an extreme case but certainly not unheard of. Now, I've gone through all this before, and my intent isn't to rehash previous webpage content. But I got to thinking that I could use my extensive travels as a reason to keep my webpage semi-updated. So what I plan on doing is uploading every morning a little note, giving the date and my location that day. That way, if you care, you can check this page and see where I am for the day. And it gives me some motivation for keeping this page current. Happy trails, and who knows, maybe I'm in your area today.
